ProTeens Membership Info For Parents "Mom, Dad, I'm Bored... There's Nothing To Do!" |

The Typical Situation For many teens, the time after school is spent unsupervised and parked in front of a computer, TV, or video game console. Often this period is filled with snacking on high fat junk foods and sugary sodas. This routine of infrequent exercise and poor eating habits is unhealthy. When carried out over many years it can put young adults at higher risk later in life for a variety of chronic serious health conditions such as type 2 diabetes, obesity, heart disease, and even cancer. Given the choice, most teens would like to be active, have fun, and socialize after school, but there really isn't a place for them to go. NOW THERE IS! Supervised, Safe Environment The ProTeens Membership at Club Bionik Energy Lounge is designed exclusively for ages 13-17. Sessions are held from 2:30-6:00 pm Monday-Friday. During these times, the Club is dedicated to teens and other Club members are not permitted in the facility. This may be particularly important for parents of teen girls who might prefer an environment free of adult males for their daughters. ProTeens sessions are supervised by Club Bionik staff to ensure the safety and well being of all the teen members. The Club has strict rules against: smoking, alcohol, drugs, weapons, and disrespectful behavior towards others. There will always be an adult on site who is certified in First Aid and CPR. Parents can be confident that their children are in a safe environment. Scheduled Activities Designed To Get Teens Moving Ray Zwycewicz, Certified Personal Trainer, American College of Sports Medicine and founder of Club Bionik Energy Lounge, is a staunch advocate of the 2007ACSM/American Heart Association physical activity guidelines. The activities planned for ProTeens sessions are intended to meet the guidelines, but in a way that teens will enjoy. Teens need variety and Club is dedicated to |
creating a random mix of games (e.g relay racing), classes (e.g, aerobic kickboxing) tournaments (Wii boxing) and challenges (Survivor Wall Sit) to keep the members engaged. Munch and Crunch All teens get hungry after school and Club Bionik Energy Lounge offers an array of healthy snacks and beverages for members at the Aqua Bar. In keeping with the healthy lifestyle theme of the Club, the focus is on whole fruits, low cal/low fat packaged snacks, and a variety of flavored waters or low sugar beverages. Parents can choose to establish a Club Aqua Bar debit account so that their teen merely signs a charge ticket for their items. Personal Coaching and Training Some teens may benefit from personal coaching (sit down discussions) and/or training sessions (fitness) with a member of the staff. These custom programs are designed to meet a specific physical fitness goal and are available for an additional fee. Typical goals can range from improved weight management to increased overall levels of fitness such as cardiorespriratory endurance. Membership Fees Club Bionik Energy Lounge offers a specialized mix of programming for teens that is unique in the industry. The Club is private and open to members only. The initial membership fee is $59 during the grand opening period. A ProTeens session pass is required for each member to participate in a single session. However, teen members are not required to start or finish a session at a specific time. The session passes must be purchased in blocks of eight: 8 for $68, 16 for $128, 24 for $180. Session passes do not expire so a teen who is involved in other activities can visit the Club as often or as infrequently as desired without worrying about an underutilized membership. Parents can choose to have an internal Club session pass debit account created for their teen so that their passes are not lost or forgotten. |
